City cruised to another valuable three points as they brushed side Fulham with a 5-0 win. Without ever really getting out of first gear City will be pleased to register a big win on the same day that Chelsea and Liverpool also scored with freedom. Here is a look at the player ratings.
Joe Hart – 6
An easy day for Joe Hart between the sticks and was largely confined to the role of spectator. Bar a few wayward kicks a solid, routine performance.
Pablo Zabaleta – 7
A solid performance from Zabaleta and got forward well, particularly in the second half when Fulham were down to ten men.
Martin Demichelis – 8
An excellent performance from the much maligned Argentine. Seems to relish taking control at the back and always looks comfortable in possession. He was also a threat on set pieces and got his first goal for City at the end of the game.
Joleon Lescott – 7
Largely untroubled throughout the game and dealt with everything that came his way with an assured confidence.
Aleksandar Kolarov – 6
Was unfortunate not to score near the end of the first half when Stockdale saved his thunderous shot onto the bar. Managed to get forward a lot more in the second half as City took the game to Fulham.
Fernandinho – 7
A typically energetic performance for arguably City’s player of the season. Capped his performance with a wonderful goal. It will be a travesty if he doesn’t make the Brazil squad for the upcoming World Cup. An excellent player.
Yaya Toure – 8 (man of the match)
A first career hat-trick for Yaya and deservedly awarded the man of the match. Such an influential performance and a wonderful third goal makes him the third highest goal scorer in the Premier League only behind Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge. Seems to be relishing the freedom that Pellegrini gives him to get forward.
James Milner – 8
A rare start for Milner and he took his chance with aplomb. His trademark work ethic combined with flashes of skill made him a standout performer on the day. An extremely valuable player to have in the squad and always has an impact.
David Silva – 7
A relatively quiet performance for Silva in comparison to last weekend against Hull but his skill is there for all to see. Had a chip cleared off the line and won City’s second penalty. Withdrawn with 20 minutes left to rest ahead of the Derby on Tuesday.
Samir Nasri – 7
A decent performance from Nasri. Excellent in possession and constantly looking to get forward. Withdrawn early with the game won and afforded some rest before the Derby.
Alvaro Negredo – 6
Seems to be suffering somewhat from his lack of goals recently and his misery was compounded when missing a sitter late on. That said, showed some flashes of brilliance and tried to influence the game as much as possible.
Jesus Navas – 7
A lively addition as City looked to turn their lead into a rout. Hard not to feel sorry for the Fulham defenders with Navas running at you at full speed when you’re flat on your feet.
Jack Rodwell – 6
A rare appearance for City’s forgotten man. Tidy in possession without really being able to put his stamp on the game.
Stevan Jovetic – 7
A timely return for Jovetic with some big games around the corner. Always looks for the ball and the give and go. Offers something different to what City have.
