Sergio Aguero has signed a one year contract extension at City keeping him at the club until 2017. The news comes in the wake of recent speculation regarding the Argentine’s future which Aguero himself and City Chief Executive, Ferran Soriano, both dismissed as nonsense. Upon signing, Aguero said:
I’m very happy at City and I feel very appreciated. It’s been barely two years since I’ve arrived and sometimes I feel like I’ve been here for all my life. I have a fantastic relationship with the fans. That always reminds me of our title and that goal against QPR. Now I am looking forward to next season and pushing hard to win the title again.
With the likes of Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany tied down to long term contracts it appears City are keen to nail down the spine of the team going into this summer’s transfer window. The news of Aguero’s contract extension has quickly put to the bed the speculation about his future which was beginning to gather pace in the media. With Ferran Soriano recently confirming that incoming transfers are already being negotiated it is set to be an interesting summer at the club.
