Ahead of tonight’s game against West Brom here is a round up of all the pre-match talk from both camps. For City, Roberto Mancini and Vincent Kompany preview the game. For West Brom, Steve Clarke and Youssouf Mulumbu have their say.
It is difficult and (the Swansea match) was difficult as our concentration is on the final. But we need to play these games and for us it is important to win. It would be better to have one week (of unbroken preparation) but we play Wigan and it is the same for them. We need to change as we will be playing a second game in three days.
Saturday is a big, big day for the club, it’s massive and everyone realises that. But it would be nice to win the game against West Brom first. That would set us up really nicely to focus on the final.
It’s really important that we qualify for the Champions League first. There is no other way to think about this game. Until we are safe for that Champions League spot we have to play the game like every other game. The manager has a lot of options so I’m not sure what team he will start with.
They’ve got a squad of players that is packed full of internationals. Whether Roberto chooses to play his full team in preparation for the final or whether he chooses to make some changes, they will be a strong team. They’re the champions of last season and they will want to finish well.
We look forward to a difficult game, but it’s a good game for us. Outside of our camp everybody expects us not to get a good result, but we’re determined.
We’re going to try to do more with the season and I don’t want to let it slip after the Wigan defeat. I will give my best and I think my team-mates are going to do the same. It’s important we do that for the fans. They deserve that this year. We’ve been good this year so we don’t want to mess about at the end as it would be a shame. The supporters don’t deserve that either. We’ve got them in our minds so me and my team-mates will not let our standards drop.
We’ve got some challengers in this dressing room so we’re going to do everything to win all of the remaining games. We’re enjoying our football but that can be dangerous as you relax – but we don’t want to do that. We will be aiming to get at least three or four more points.
