David Silva is an injury doubt for Sunday’s FA Cup Semi-Final against Chelsea after picking up a hamstring injury in the latter stages of Monday night’s derby win. His potential absence from the team would be a massive blow to City but the Spaniard has not given up hope of recovering in time. He said:
I’m having tests today and we will see. The tests will confirm whether I will be able to play or not. I can still feel the injury so I have to wait to see what the tests show, but hopefully I will recover enough to travel with the squad.
Even is Silva does miss the match it is one he is excited about, particularly as his compatriot, Juan Mata, plays for Chelsea.
Mata is a great player, but Chelsea have a great team. That said, they have more than one player we have to worry about. It should be a great game.
With the league title all but surrendered to United, Silva is looking to set the record straight next season.
To win the title next year we have to show the fight we showed at Old Trafford and also last year we had that little bit of luck at the right time. We haven’t had much luck this year, but hopefully we will next time. United have done very well but we now have to concentrate on the teams coming from behind who are playing well and finish as strongly as we can this season.
We are growing every year as a club. With the new contract for Yaya for example, it shows how we’re growing and building for the future and it’s always exciting when we are linked with new players. Anyone who can come in to help the team to grow and get even better is all good for the club.
