In a radio interview for a station based in Naples, City defensive coach Angelo Gregucci has admitted that the club face huge competition in their bid to sign Napoli striker Edinson Cavani. Gregucci said:
City will definitely have competition for Cavani. Edinson is scoring a huge number of goals this season and it will be difficult for City to take him. The 10 biggest clubs in Europe all have Cavani in their sights.
Cavani is looking increasingly like one of the finest forwards in world football. Behind Messi and Ronaldo, who are now both generally accepted as the best two players in the world, Falcao, Van Persie and Cavani are the next best forward players. Cavani has a £45million buy-out clause in his contract and has scored 27 goals in 26 Serie A appearances this season, making him the leading goalscorer in the league. He also bagged three goals against City in two Champions League group games last season.
