NEWS: Kompany Red Card Appeal Successful

City have won their appeal against the red card shown to Vincent Kompany in the second half of the 2-0 victory over Arsenal.

The centre-back was dismissed by referee Mike Dean for a tackle on Jack Wilshere but the FA has overturned the decision. Had the ban been upheld Kompany would have missed games against Fulham and QPR in the Premier League, and either Crystal Palace or Stoke in the FA Cup fourth round.

Prior to the FA decision this afternoon, The Daily Mirror ran a story suggesting that if the ban was upheld Roberto Mancini would step up his search for a new defender. Honestly, since when has a 3 match suspension triggered a transfer?
