Roberto Mancini has declared that he is willing to begin new contract negotiations with Carlos Tevez. Despite high profile run-ins between the pair, Mancini is seemingly keen to keep the striker on board whose current contract expires in 18 months’ time. He said:
I think we have time to talk with him about this. When Carlos takes a decision, he’ll talk with us. His behaviour is very good, he works very well. He is an important player because he has experience in this moment and also now he can help Mario.
Mancini also suggested a one year contract extension could be possible to prevent Tevez’s market value decreasing:
Yes, this could be because Carlos is 28 and he has other years to play. I think this could be an option.
