AC Milan owner, Silvio Berlusconi, has ruled out a January move for Mario Balotelli on the basis that the 22-year-old striker is a “rotten apple”. The irony of such a statement will be lost on very few.
Talk about a move back to the San Siro, where Balotelli played for AC’s city rivals Inter, had been steadily growing, prompting a strong rebuttal from the former Italian president.
The name of Balotelli never came into my thoughts. He is a rotten apple and could infect every group where he goes, even Milan.
Of course, Berlusconi, a man who did three terms as Italian president under a cloud of corruption, was charged with soliciting minors for sex, and recently served a jail sentence for tax evasion, calling a 22-year-old footballer a “rotten apple” is beyond ironic. But then what more do you expect from Silvio Berlusconi?
