FEATURE: Forza Mancini

Today marks the third anniversary of the appointment of Roberto Mancini. This is worth celebrating on two levels.

It’s a move which has seen us win an FA Cup, qualify for Champions League football twice, and become champions of England. Mancini has led to us to success and turned us into a hard-working, professional outfit, something we most certainly were not before his arrival. He has also gradually implemented a fantastic attacking brand of football. The initial pragmatism that saw us stop conceding goals at the rate of knots has now been replaced by a beautiful style of football that often overwhelms the opposition. The Italian is also responsible for bringing Silva and Aguero to us, moves which have proved astute and pulsating.

It is also the third anniversary of the day we sacked Mark Hughes. Removing such an arrogant, deluded, useless man seemed harsh at the time, but time has been kind to the decision to get rid of the Welshman.

To celebrate, I’ve gathered together some brilliant statistics from the Opta City Twitter account that make for some interesting reading.
