Newcastle – Gabriel Obertan could return after over a month out with a toe injury. Hatem Ben Arfa is a major doubt, having suffered a reaction after making his comeback from a hamstring injury.

City – Vincent Kompany is a doubt after picking up a groin injury during last weekend’s Manchester derby. Gareth Barry is serving a one-match ban for verbally abusing a match official after that game. Clichy (ankle), Nasri (headache), Milner (hamstring), Kompany and  Kolarov (groin) are all doubtful. Richards (knee), Guidetti (leg), Rodwell (hamstring) are long term absentees.


Newcastle have lost five of their last six games.

Danny Simpson has been in excellent form over the last two seasons, and did his best to get forward and provide chances for his team mates against Fulham by delivering more crosses than any player has in a single game this season with 13.

Jonas Gutierrez was once again top of the Newcastle distance charts against Fulham, running 6.44 miles.
