City take on Ajax in the third group game of the Champions League tonight. City have not really got going in this year’s group stage after losing against Real Madrid and drawing with Borussia Dortmund. In the process they have allowed their opponents more shots (22) on target against them than any other team in the Champions League this season
In tonight’s must win game, Roberto Mancini must do without David Silva, who remains sidelined with the hamstring injury he picked up on international duty with Spain. Jack Rodwell (hamstring), Javi Garcia (thigh) and Maicon (foot) are also unavailable.
After some confusion amongst the mainstream media, Vincent Kompany is eligible to play even though he is currently on two yellow cards. His next yellow card will incur a ban.
Ajax are seeking a first home victory over English opposition since 1980 but go into the game with several players sidelined. Nicolai Boilesen (hamstring), Kolbeinn Sigthórsson (shoulder), Thulani Serero (groin), Davy Klaassen (groin) and Jody Lukoki (knee) will miss out.
