Kolarov aware of the threat Ronaldo poses

Aleksander Kolarov, City’s Serbian left-back, has today claimed that he is not worried about the prospect of facing Cristiano Ronaldo when City take on Real Madrid later this month.

Kolarov starred in Sebia’s 6-1 demolition of Wales on Tuesday where he played against the impressive Gareth Bale. However, he expects Ronaldo and Real to pose an even greater threat.

I know about Bale from the Premier League, I’ve played against him before and I know how good he is.

We kept him quiet though. He scored a great free-kick – but apart from that we did not have many problems.

Ronaldo is different. Everyone knows about him, there’s nothing much more that you can say about him.

He’s a special player – along with Lionel Messi he is the best player in the world. So to play against someone like that will be a big test.

Ronaldo played for Manchester United too so he will want to score against us but City can go to Madrid with confidence.

This time we need to start better. It should be a great night for the club.

We are the champions of England and it will not be an easy night for Real as well.

Everyone at Manchester City will look forward to going there.

First we have Stoke, on Saturday and then Madrid and then Arsenal, so it’s a really big week.

We want to do better in the Champions League and qualify but again we have a really tough group.

Good comments from Kolarov ahead of a huge period for us. Believe it or not, the Daily Star managed to spin those comments as ‘Ronaldo doesn’t scare us, says city ace Kolarov’. It’s hard to take them seriously at times.

Kolarov is a player we payed top whack for but are yet to see proper value for the money we spent. Poor defensively and prone to lapses in concentration, i never feel fully confident when he is selected. His ability to strike a dead ball appears to have made him popular on some level, which angers me somewhat. In my opinion, this season is a big one for Kolarov’s City career. Either he steps up and starts to look like one of the most expensive full-backs in the world, or he’ll be shipped back to Serie A.
